A View from the Periscope, Exhibition, through August 3, Jimmy Carter Presidential Library & Museum. In celebration of Jimmy Carter’s becoming a submariner 60 years ago, the Carter Presidential Library and Museum is proud to host “A View from the Periscope,” an exhibition of paintings and drawings from the United States Naval Historical Center’s art collection. These paintings provide a unique look at the role of the U.S. Submarine Service. This fascinating exhibition includes a 1902 drawing of the first submarine, Hunley, as well as 42 other historic paintings and drawings from WWII to the 1980s.
